This work is provocation around excess clothing consumption. Twenty three kilos of thrifted clothing are piled in a square on the ground, to represent the twenty three kilos of textiles the average Australian sends to landfill each year. Rising from this mound are thrifted clothes that have been ecodyed as one of the solutions to this problem to show a way forward to upcycling our clothing into bespoke wearable art in an environmentally sensitive manner. The desire to express oneself through how we dress is age old and universal, but humanity needs to find a way forward that has less negative impact on our one precious earth.
