Fiona Connell is a textile artist living and working on unceded Peramangk and Kaurna Land in Adelaide, South Australia. Choosing to only use reclaimed materials is central to her practice and she is fascinated with the embedded history these often vintage textiles retain. The hands that have touched them and conversations they have witnessed.

Earlier works revolved around sustainability and textile consumption using ecodyeing techniques. Later use of vintage embroideries encouraged exploration around embedded history. More recently she has been creating work stemming from her own lived experience of chronic illness and hidden disability exploring themes of grief and loss and the realities of living in a world that doesn’t fit.
